A very useful app to store and manage documents

I have been using Notebooks for several years now and I have found it very useful so manage numerous files of all types: store them, tag them, retrieve them, annotate them (especially pdf). The app has helped me prepare articles, presentations, and even a couple books. It has improved regularly over the years and works smoothly with dropbox. Nothing more to say than it is a great app to work with documents. It has never failed me. Wrote this a year ago; have not changed my mind, still the best

Best organizer of its kind

It handles pretty much anything you throw at it and I love the hierarchical system that allows me to move things up and down.

Great note taking app

This is one of the first apps I purchased after purchasing an iPad. It is great for keeping and organizing a lot of information.

Best in class document creator, organizer, and converter!

Best in class document creator, organizer, and converter. Ease of use is fantastic and document flexibility is superb - Notebooks provides compatibility with all major formats, as well as many less used ones. Alfons (the developer) is very active on the forums if you have questions or problems and he regularly updates the app and releases new features consistently. Unlike some developers, he really listens to the requests and concerns of users; for instance, many of the features he has added over the years (such as ePub export) were implemented due to popular demand. From what I can tell, he pours all his time and energy into making and keeping Notebooks and its various other platform apps (there is also a PC and Mac version available) great and also affordable. The best products are those you keep using because they grow along with you instead of stagnating. I have purchased every iteration of both the Notebooks iOS and Mac apps since version 1.0, and I am confident that I will continue to do so for years to come. I am intrigued and excited to see what new features appear in the near future!

Not “best in class” in each area of functionality, but gets job done

Limited in different areas (e.g. no Search & Replace in editor), but I appreciate the package. I would rate it 4 stars but I really love how it creates e-books (EPUB): you can use your own style sheets and easily switch between them, it automatically creates the Table of Contents, it can generate one e-book for a Chapter, or just as easily the whole book. I like using e-books when I give presentations and the combination of features works well for me. It’s not perfect, but in combination with other tools, I find it very useful.

Goodbye pen and paper!!

This App has everything I was looking for to replace paper notebooks! Its become my go-to app for managing household projects and formatted note-taking. Im not a markdown user, but I love the ability to paste in material from the web without losing the formatting. That capability and the ability to date/timestamp notes are a huge benefit. The phenomenal formatting functionality with customized keys, flexible filing capabilities, voice-to-text, and ability to send material to the app through the open-in function are more efficient than pen and paper. But the feel of page flipping and pdf markup capabilities are what put this app in a class by itself for me. NICE JOB!

Markdown, archive/search PDFs

I rely on this app as a digital replacement for my old hardcover work and personal notebooks. It supports markdown syntax so it is really easy to quickly type and format text. But it is much more than a simple note-taking app because it allows for inclusion of pictures, clickable URLs, tappable phone numbers and addresses, etc. - as well as files in a variety of formats including PDF. With the PDF reader (in-app purchase) you can search within PDFs. For example, I use the scanning app Scanbot and the handwriting app GoodNotes - both of which have OCR - to produce PDFs which I then store in the Notebooks app. That way I can view these media just as they appeared when I scanned them or wrote them AND search within the scanned or handwritten text. iPhone version syncs well with iPad and Mac versions of the app via DropBox (way quicker and more reliable than iCloud), thus allowing me access from all my devices. I deducted a star because the app searches titles and contents separately, and editing markdown files is a bit kludgy (when you tap on a document to edit it, you often end up in a different part of the document). But it is a great app, that I rely on every day to manage typed or handwritten notes and scanned documents.

Solid Notes App

It syncs well with Dropbox and handles a lot of file formats. It is well thought out, and had a straight forward user interface. I was looking for a notes app that highlights words I am searching for in the document and this app does that well.

Great app!

This is a great app for storing and organizing notes, documents, etc. For me, its a real workhorse, and I use it to store computer information, trip journals, medical records, lists, reference information -- almost anything that I want to find quickly and dont want to lose. It syncs with Dropbox, so I can access my information from my iPhone, iPad, or any computer, and it gives me automatic backups.

Great app!

This app is one I use daily. I eliminated all of the scraps of paper and questions to myself about "Where did I file that thing?" when I started using Notebooks. I can search through all of my notes, and quickly find what I want. Notes are not limited to short post-its, either. It appears that they can be quite long, add I have created some rather long documents het, too. I can also store other documents (for example, Word, Excel, and PDFs), so I can keep them together with my notes. How cool is that? I can format the text for readability, nest notebooks within notebooks, and sync everything between iPhone, iPad, and laptop. Therefore, I can always access the data, from anywhere, and not worry about losing stuff if my phone dies. I highly recommend this app!

Great

I use this to track 5 buildings for inventory, maintenance issues, vendor information etc. I consider it like one of my many tools in my toolbox as it helps me do my job.

Good, but

Lots of features, very promising. Dropbox synch is a nightmare

impossible to sync NoteBooks since v 8.1

I used every time NoteBooks since a long time, and I like this app ; but with the last version n° 8.1 from 3rd August (with iPhone 6 iOS 8.4), its impossible to sync the notes with my Mac (I have not NoteBooks for Mac) ; it was ok before this version 8.1. I usually sync with SyncDocs for Mac (version 0.6.7 always the same since many years) but now when I want to sync, appears this (in french) message on my screen (iPhone) : invalid Server the selected server is not a valid/confirm SyncDocs server I selected before the server : SyncDocs._http._tcp.local. >> not sure the address of the server was as complicated as this one before... thanks a lot for your help

Top OwnCloud Sync Note App

Synchronisiert 1A mit OwnCloud, wenn auch nicht automatisch sondern nur manuell.

Best Notebooks app

The best NotebooksApp in THW Store. - all needed functions - cross platform - good privacy options - Sync with WebDAV Server Great support.

Syncing Needs Work

Importing from Dropbox seemed to work Ok, but trying now to sync back to Dropbox is not working because there is no option for dropbox sync… It only shows “compress” which I have not even selected. Overall, the v6 to v7 import, as well as the dropbox import to v7 is very buggy, but I imagine that the developer will get it all sorted out eventually. A public beta would have been nice for v7.
